Wind-Up Bird Chronicles

Did this while teaching today, took an hour or two interupted by students. It started out as the test sketch and I just figured I'd go and make it a final drawing.

Wind-up Bird Chronicles by Haruki Murakami where the main character (did he have a name) is making spaghetti. When he does he listens to Rossini's La Gazza Ladra (The Thieving Magpie). There was a girl in his neighborhood, did she have an eyepatch or big sunglasses? Probably the latter, cest la vie. There's a missing poster for his cat (on the fridge that I always draw, so that's a nod toward my work) and in the way background there's a portrait of skeletons which is in the lines of Dance, Dance, Dance. Finally the background and kitchen are from the house I lived in in Kurihama, Japan.
